Seahawk Media Formation
From a Wilmington dorm room to Boston: how Seahawk found WordPress, GoDaddy Pro and the gap it was built to fill.

Seahawk started in 2015 in a college dorm room in Wilmington, North Carolina, as Seahawk Media Group, a small local agency.
Founder Ryan James discovered WordPress in 2016 and 2017, and joined the GoDaddy Pro program around the same time. That is where he found the gap Seahawk was built to fill: web hosts needed fully white-label pro services they could trust, scale and offer to their customers.
In 2018 Ryan moved the business to Boston and formed Seahawk Media.
The GoDaddy Pro program also brought Ryan and Gautam Khorana together. Gautam had won GoDaddy India’s Bijness Bhai award, and Ryan reached out to him on Instagram. Gautam owned The SiteCook. The two worked together for a short period, then on March 1, 2019 Seahawk acquired The SiteCook to form Seahawk Global.
The seahawk through the years
The seahawk has been the mark from day one, and it has flown three times. Seahawk Media Group’s first mark, in 2015, set a green seahawk on a blue square. By 2018 it had become a round navy badge with a turquoise seahawk. Today’s mark is the third and final one: the same bird, redrawn for the Seahawk Design System and here to stay.
